Until this morning, prime minister Joe Natuman has the support of 30 MPs on his side.

Sources from the government’s coalition partners told the VIW that their 30 MPs are ready to support the motion to suspend the current leader of the opposition, Moana Carcasses along with 15 other MPs this afternoon.

They claimed that the opposition made attempts to convince some MPs from the government side  to join the opposition, but the attempts failed.

If the motion is passed this afternoon by parliament, the 16 MPs will be suspended until the end of the first ordinary session next year.

VIW has heard that the opposition is prepared to challenge their suspension in court.

This is not the first time that parliament has disciplined MPs.
